Poker is big in California. Being the state that houses the second-most sanctioned poker tables in the entire U.S., many of them in famed card rooms like the Commerce Casino and the Bicycle Club Casino, California is known for having an action-packed poker scene. It is thus hardly surprising that local charities try to tap the pool of California's poker lovers in order to raise money through immensely popular No-Limit Texas Hold 'em tournaments. Unfortunately for them, however, poker fundraisers are illegal according to state law.
